Over dit evenement
This edition of Sundried Understandings brings together two cities that have shaped our fellow curator’s life in a homecoming reunion fuelled by a showcase of fellow friendship talent. AUTHENTIC VOICES AFRICA Authentic Voices Africa (AVA) is a cultural and artistic collective founded in 2020 by Benzima Onzima in collaboration with Dominic Claire, revealing the deep spiritual essence of traditions and heritage along the River Nile in Uganda. They fuse ancestral sound, ritual movement, indigenous chants, and futuristic electronics into multi-sensory performances. Following their debut performance at Nyege Nyege Festival last year and various shows in Kampala, they will be in Europe for a run of shows, and we are happy to host them at OCCII. Watch this video on YouTube NANNA PEGGY Nanna Peggy is the mysterious alias of producer and songwriter Lewis Murray. His band Fishing For Crabs became something of a cult favourite amongst fellow musicians, although the music was never officially released except for one song on Soundcloud 12 years ago. Since then, Lewis‘s music has been kept on the down low, only to be heard while visiting his Doncaster-based studio and during rare live appearances. His unique falsetto voice, accompanied by chopped samples and recordings on his MPC, makes for a dreamy experience. This will be his first time performing outside the UK, so we are super excited to have him in Amsterdam — don’t miss out! Spooky-J b2b DJ Turbo 2000 Sundried Understandings administrator Spooky-J and poster designer visual mastermind DJ Turbo 2000 will bless the intermissions with their deep dug cuts and selections for the evening. ———
