Kruidkoek & Joost Oomen blend punkjazz, poetry and danceable energy. The four musicians, also active in DeWolff, De Niemanders and Broken Brass, back Joost Oomen’s loud, ironic poetry influenced by Dada, Ginsberg and John Cooper Clarke. The result: a dance party with oranges thrown at a gong, banana fights and chanting ‘Saw, pudding, pudding, saw’ – a Dutch, weirder, jollier take on Antony Szmierek or Kae Tempest. Kruidkoek formed in 2012 at the Zwolle conservatory, toured Cairo and Berlin, played the Popronde. Joost Oomen started in Groningen’s VERA, performed from Cape Town to Paris and at Lowlands, Into the Great Wide Open and Oerol. His latest poetry collection sold over ten thousand copies.
