Over dit evenement

Not everything washes away The djellaba caught off guard by a sudden downpour; the grey suit that travelled from another continent; the shirt bearing the traces of a long working day; the abaya still carrying the rosy scent of yesterday’s wedding… One by one, they arrive at the counter for only a brief stay, during which liquid soap and steaming irons do their work. Two days later they head back out – clean, fresh, and wrinkle free -, the very reasons for their arrival washed away. Yet the memories remain, tucked between the folds and hidden inside the collars. The laundromat is, par excellence, a place where stories come and go without being told or heard, where worlds meet without knowing each other. Joost spent time inquiring, asking questions, and above all, listening. Over the past few months, he became a regular at laundromats and dry cleaners across the city, got to know their visitors, and recorded their stories. Some came from afar, others from just around the corner, but all of them from much closer than one might expect. this is a location performance. Double check the address :) [kop3]Bio[/kop3] Joost is storyteller, creative producer and member of Loom Storytelling Collective, born in Limburg, based in Amsterdam and above all an optimistic and curious world citizen. A long business leadership career and a great appetite for traveling has taken him to many corners of the world. Along the way he has collected an ocean of experiences and a wealth of stories. Big exciting stories, tiny tender stories but also stories from close to home, that easily relate to a variety of audiences. After completing the Mezrab Professional Storytelling Course in 2025 he now uses his leadership experience and the craft of storytelling to create performances and events that move, inspire, trigger a thought or simply make one smile. For Joost, storytelling is a brilliant tool for transformation, whether it be temporary or long-lasting, both for the storyteller and the one…
