Two Mountains Weighing Down My Chestby Viv Li2026, Germany/Netherlands, 85 minutes, English, Mandarin, German with English subtitles Viv Li’s feature debut had its world premiere in the Panorama section of the Berlinale earlier this year, where it was nominated for a Teddy Award. After its Dutch premiere at IDFA in November, we show it at WORM on 16 December, presented together with Diaspora East Cinema. After the screening, Viv Li will join us online for a live Q&A! Beijing-born Viv got stuck in Berlin after the pandemic and wandered, half by accident, into the city’s queer and alternative scene. Back home, her family has one pressing question: why is she such an oddball? Moving between Berlin nightlife, family dinners in Beijing and drunken late-night talks in New York, she keeps adjusting to what others think of her, of the world and of China, and only gets more lost along the way. Li turns the camera on herself with dry, self-mocking humour. It plays like a diary that keeps tripping over its own contradictions, about trying to belong in two places that each expect something different from you.
